Dark nights, cold temperatures and wet weather conditions can pose great obstacles for elderly and vulnerable people. Simple tasks can become more challenging overnight and a cause of great concern for their mobility and safety.
Mrs. D is over 80 years of age and lives independently in a bungalow. Although she has a handrail for support, Mrs. D finds that the two concrete steps outside her front door can sometimes become quite slippery – particularly in the colder, wetter months of the year.
Her family suggested applying Sylglas Anti-Slip Tape to the steps. The textured surface of the tape helps to reduce the risk of slips and trips when moving about the home and garden. They opted for the yellow variant of Sylglas Anti-Slip Tape so that it would stand out vividly against the concrete. The brightly coloured tape now helps Mrs. D to see the edge of each step clearly and know where to place her foot for the greatest amount of traction underfoot.
The installation of the tape itself took only 5-minutes and was ready to be walked upon instantly. Mrs. D can continue to live independently and has afforded both herself and her family a greater peace of mind when moving outside of her home.
