In 2010 a customer wrote to us with a unique application of Sylglas Flashing Tape. Thirty years ago Mr S. used Sylglas Flashing Tape to waterproof the roof of an original coal bunker from 1934.
The coal bunker, located in his garden, needed restoration due to the roofing felt being ripped off in a storm in 1972 and the coal bunker required a watertight seal to store outdoor furniture.
He recovered the wooden roof, but as it was far from watertight, he decided then to apply Sylglas Flashing Tape. As can be seen in the photographs he cut the tape into a decorative scallop shape to complement the aesthetics of his garden.
Apart from a few claw marks from the resident fox, the roof still looks neat and serviceable after over 30 years. Our customer suggested that the flashing tape would last a further 10 years or more before needing to be replaced.
